COsts of Study and FINANCIAL AID

 

A. Fees and costs

Tuition fees include attendance of all academic events, educational materials, use of library, computers (except for the Internet link) and other facilities, field trips, and some social and cultural events. All students are accommodated in single rooms with en-suite facilities at "Haus International", the student residence.

Amounts are in Austrian Shillings.*

2. MAS Program is Peace and Conflict Studies

(Two residential academic semesters, and one non-residential semester for thesis preparation)

Please note:

Applicants are kindly requested to transfer 15% of the tuition fee and housing costs by 15 August (fall semester) or by 15 February (spring semester) as a non-refundable deposit and downpayment to the EPU. If we do not receive your downpayment till the above date(s), your admission will be cancelled and your place will be offered to another student on the waiting list. The rest of the fees and costs (85%) are due prior to the starting of the program.

B. SCHOLARSHIPS

 

1. Austrian Government scholarships

 

a. Development Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships is offered by the Foreign Ministry of the Austrian Government as part of the Austrian Development Cooperation Program. These scholarships are intended for students from Africa, Asia and Latin America unable to finance themselves. They cover tuition, accommodation, meals and medical insurance for one person (no dependants.) Travel expenses are covered fully for nationals of target countries* of the Austrian Development Cooperation, and partly for other students. These scholarships can be granted for one semester only and cannot be prolonged.

In order to qualify for a development scholarship, candidates need to

them, he/she will be granted an official study leave for the period of the semester, he/she will be welcome to return to his/her job after the completion of the semester, and describing in what way the employer finds it useful and beneficial for the institution/organization/company that the applicant participates in a study program at the EPU.

The application essay, to be submitted as part of the required application materials, should also contain a description of the reasons why the applicant finds it important and useful for him/her to join the academic program of the EPU, and in what way the completed studies in the Certificate Program are expected to be of mutual benefit both for the applicant and his/her employer.

Applicants are requested to send their scholarship request together with a copy of the EPU application materials to the closest Embassy of Austria, as well. The materials may also be sent to the closest Regional and Cooperation Bureau of the Republic of Austria. (A world-wide list of these Bureaus is available at the EPU Secretariat.)

Please note that due to the relative short time for correspondence with the admitted students before the beginning of the semester, only the candidates will be seriously considered for the admission who are reachable by fax or e-mail.

b. Scholarships for students from Central and Eastern European Reform States

The Federal Chancellery of the Austrian Government offers financial support from the funds for cooperation with selected Central and Eastern European Reform States** for studies at the EPU, covering accommodation and ATS 3,000 food allowance per month.

The tuition fee is covered in the form of a complementary scholarship offered by the EPU for students who are granted the scholarship of the Federal Chancellery. The scholarship does not cover travel costs and insurance.

2. EPU GRANT

Students may also apply for an EPU grant. This grant, offered for one applicant per semester by the Local Government of Stadtschlaining, covers tuition, accommodation, meals and insurance. It does not include travel.

 

3. FUNDINGS FOR AUSTRIAN CITIZENS

One possibility of support for Austrian nationals who are admitted to the program are scholarships from the Federal States (Länder). The EPU is willing to support such scholarship applications with letters of admission, as well as to support inquiries for other funding sources.
